BIODEGRADABLE
Soybeans are pressed to extract their natural oils. These oils are hydrogenated to turn it into a wax. A natural product, soy wax is environmentally friendly and 100% biodegradable.
ALL NATURAL RENEWABLE RESOURSE
Since soy wax comes from a soybean, it's 100% natural. Parafin wax is a by-product of petroleum production and is not renewable. As long as we take care to maintain proper crops and fields, soy will always be a renewable resourse.
SAFER, LOW BURN TEMPERATURE
Soy wax candles have a lower burn temperature than most other types of candles, therefore soy wax candles are safer to have around your home and business. You can touch the melted wax in a soy wax candle without scalding your finger - most parafin wax candles would burn your skin if you came in contact with the melted wax.
EASY CLEAN-UP
Because soy wax has such a low melting point, this makes it easy to clean up. Hot tap water and a little soap will easily clean up any wax spills. Soy wax also may produce what is called "gray-soot", instead of the "black-soot" that is created by parafin wax candles. Although soy wax candles do sometimes produce this "gray-soot", it occurs much less in soy wax candles than parafin candles and can easily be wiped away with a damp cloth.
BRIGHTER BURNING, LONGER LASTING GREATER SCENT THROW
Because soy wax has a lower melting point, this allows us to use 100% cotton wicks, which creates a bigger, brighter flame. Soy candles burn slower, which allows them to last up to 50% longer than a parafin candle of the same size. Soy wax will retain it's scent for the life of the candle, and provide a great scent "throw" that will fill your home or office with it's wonderful fragrance.
CHARACTERISTICS OF SOY WAX
Soy wax has many natural characteristics that are often mistaken for defects in the candle. It is important to note that without the addition of addditives these characteristics are very difficult to prevent. They are also a good indicator that the wax used to make the candles is 100% soy with no additives.
While these properties of soy wax do change the appearance of your candle its is also important to know that it will in no way affect the burning or fragrance throw of your candle. To help prevent these changes from occurring, you can store your candle in a cool dark place when not in use, but they will happen eventually.
- FROSTING - this is when the color of your soy candles slowly turns white. Over time, UV light causes the crystal structure of the wax to change and eliminate the dyes.
- WET SPOTS - These area actually "dry" spots. Soy wax is sensitive to temperature in many ways. Changes in temperature during and after its production causes the wax to contract and expand. This can leave small air pockets against the glass which looks like a wet spot. Again, this will not effect the burning quality of your candle.
- ROUGH TOPS - Rough tops can be caused by many things. Most commonly the temperature of the wax when it is poured and the speed that the candle cools back to a solid state. We take careful measures in controlling the temperatures when pouring, however some things just cannot be controlled without the use of additives.
- LEACHING - Sometimes you may notice liquid seeping from the top of your candle. This liquid is actually fragrance oil and is being brought to the surface of the candle through a couple of different processes. One major reason can be the addition of too much fragrance oil to the candle. Then after heat is added, the wax can no longer hold the same amount of fragrance oil and it is forced out. Do not fear, you can easily remove the excess fragrance oil with a paper towel and your candle will still smell great and burn without any problems.
